Arran Private Cask 9 Years Old 2009

Event specific bottlings within the Arran Private Cask programme occupy a particular subset of the wider scheme, with casks bottled for specific occasions outside national market distribution. This 2009 vintage Oloroso cask was bottled at nine years old in 2019 from cask 2009/846. The 301 bottle outturn reflects the natural working yield of the single Oloroso cask at the nine year point, with the larger volume suggesting either a butt format or a particularly well filled hogshead.

Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 2009 and matured nine years in a single Oloroso seasoned cask. Bottled in 2019 at 57.2% without chill filtration and without added colour, with the strong natural ABV reflecting the integrated cask strength at the bottling point.

Nine years of Oloroso cask maturation produces solid cask integration with the underlying Arran spirit signature, with the sherry compound layer of sotolon, furfural and the polyphenol fraction from the original wine ageing well developed but not yet at the deeper extraction characteristic of fifteen year and older Oloroso casks. The cask supplies the dark sherry, dried fruit and gentle drying spice framework over the Arran citric and fresh fruit core.
