Arran Private Cask 8 Years Old 2009

Oloroso seasoned Private Casks at eight to ten years old capture the sherry compound integration at the developing phase, where the wine residue is well established in the wood but the full deep extraction of fifteen year and older Oloroso casks has not yet developed. Cask 2009/833 was filled in 2009 and matured eight years before bottling in 2018 for the German market. The 318 bottle outturn at eight years suggests a butt format rather than a hogshead.

Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 2009 and matured eight years in a single Oloroso seasoned cask. Bottled in 2018 at the natural cask strength of 53.9% without chill filtration and without added colour.

Eight years of Oloroso cask maturation produces the developing phase of sherry compound integration, with the initial layer of sotolon, furfural and the polyphenol fraction extracted from the seasoning wood sitting against the underlying Arran spirit signature. The flavour profile of chocolate, citric, cooked fruit, dried fruit, fragrant and husky captures this transitional integration where both spirit and cask contributions remain visible.
