Arran Private Cask 7 Years Old 2008

Italy has been an active market for Arran's Private Cask scheme across multiple years, with Italian specialist retailers commissioning casks and managing the maturation and bottling cycle. This 2008 vintage release at seven years old captures Arran new make at the relatively young cask interaction point characteristic of younger Private Cask bottlings. The 250 bottle outturn reflects the natural working yield of a single ex Bourbon barrel after seven years of cask evaporation.

Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 2008 and matured seven years in a single ex Bourbon American oak cask. Bottled in 2015 at the natural cask strength of 57.3% without chill filtration and without added colour.

At seven years old the Arran spirit signature dominates the flavour profile, with the cask interaction in the early integration phase. The ex Bourbon cask supplies vanillin and developing whisky lactone compounds, while the underlying citric, fresh fruit and stone fruit ester load from the 2008 new make drives the dominant character. The 57.3% cask strength bottling preserves the maximum textural weight from the unfiltered fatty acid ester load. Flavour tag: cooked fruit.
