Arran Private Cask 12 Years Old 2006

Oloroso seasoned casks have appeared widely across the Arran Private Cask programme, with successive cask owners selecting sherry wood specifically for the deeper extraction profile it delivers compared to ex Bourbon maturation. Cask 2006/800467 sits in the 800000 series numbering used at Arran during the mid 2000s, with the cask filled in the 2006 production year and matured twelve years before bottling in 2018. The 292 bottle outturn reflects the working yield of the single Oloroso cask.

Spirit was distilled at Lochranza in 2006 and matured twelve years in a single Oloroso seasoned cask. Bottled in 2018 at 52.6% without chill filtration and without added colour.

Twelve years of Oloroso cask maturation produces well integrated sherry compound extraction, with sotolon, furfural and the polyphenol fraction from the original wine maturation layering over the underlying Arran spirit signature. The European oak substrate contributes its own lactone profile and the structured tannic backbone characteristic of long aged Oloroso wood. The 52.6% bottling preserves the lipid fraction and textural weight of the unfiltered spirit.
