Arran Arranach

The Arranach format is one of the most restricted release channels in the Arran range. Bottled in 20cl rather than the standard 70cl format, individually numbered, and sold only through the Lochranza distillery shop, the Arranach functions as a hand selected, visitor only expression. The name is the Gaelic word for a person from Arran, reflecting the bottling's positioning as a distillery and island specific release. Each Arranach batch is a multi vintage vatting drawn from Lochranza warehouse stock at the time of bottling, with cask compositions varying across releases.

Maturation specifics vary batch to batch since the Arranach is constructed as a vatting from the distillery's working warehouse inventory at the time of release. Bottling is at cask strength representing the natural ABV of the vatted parcel, with no chill filtration and no added colouring. The 20cl format and visitor only distribution limit the volume per release, with each bottle individually numbered for the batch.

The multi vintage construction allows the Arranach to draw on a wider stylistic range than a single vintage release would permit. Casks used typically include a combination of ex Bourbon and sherry wood, with the proportional split adjusted for each release to produce the desired profile. The result is a higher strength, fuller textured presentation than the standard core range, with the textural advantages of unfiltered cask strength bottling.
