Description
Arette Blanco is a 100% agave tequila from El Llano in the Tequila valley of Jalisco, made by the Orendain family, fourth generation distillers who launched the brand in 1986 from a building where their forebears were making tequila in the early 1900s. The house works only with estate agave from its own fields rather than buying in, an estate approach that gives this blanco more character than the entry level category usually shows.
The agave is cooked, twice distilled in copper pot stills and bottled clear, drawing on the spring water of the Tequila volcano. Arette states it uses no glycerol, caramel or oak extract, putting it among the additive-free Valles houses. The nose opens floral and elegant after a wave of pure agave, while the palate is fresh and clean, with lemon, green herbs and cooked agave clearly defined. A lowland blanco at 38% that reads honest and traditional.
