Arehucas 7 años is a column still molasses rum from the Arehucas distillery in the Canary Islands, bottled at 40%. It is an inexpensive, approachable rum in the soft Spanish style, made for easy drinking rather than serious study.

Matured in ex-bourbon casks and sweetened, it leads with hazelnut, dark chocolate, coffee and oak on the nose, with wood, coffee, cocoa and vanilla on a smooth palate and a finish of dried fruit, wood and allspice. The added sugar gives it a rounded, caramel and toffee sweetness with a soft banana note, so it sits honestly as a sweet sipper rather than a dry one. Friendly and undemanding, it is the kind of rum that works best in a rum and cola or shared casually, an easy crowd pleaser at a gentle price.
