A 22 year old single cask Ardmore released by Maltbarn in 2026 as part of the Fractals series, distilled in 2003 and bottled at 50.5% natural strength. Fractals is one of Maltbarn's themed series within the broader bottling programme, sitting alongside the numbered single cask line. Martin Diebel's operation has carried Ardmore consistently across multiple decades, with this release coming from the 2003 stock holding. 138 bottles for the European market.

Distilled in 2003 from peated Aberdeenshire malt at the 12 to 14 ppm phenol level, the spirit was filled at 63.5% into a single ex Bourbon refill American oak cask and matured in dunnage at Kennethmont. The 2003 vintage falls in the early steam era, the third year after the 2001 wash still heating conversion at Kennethmont. Twenty two years brought the strength to 50.5%, with no chill filtration applied at bottling.

Long refill Bourbon maturation develops a quiet oxidative complexity. Cis whisky lactone gives soft coconut and pine, vanillin from oak lignin builds baked custard, syringaldehyde adds clove. Steam era distillate reads cleaner than coal era stock, with apple and pear esters from the Kerry yeast component sitting prominently at the centre rather than competing with direct flame Maillard products. Inland peat shows as heather smoke, dry leaf and earthy phenolic at integrated moderate intensity.
