Ardmore 12 Year Old 2006 Prenzlow Portfolio (Jack Wiebers Whisky World)

A 12 year old Ardmore released by Jack Wiebers Whisky World in 2019 under the Prenzlow Portfolio Collection, distilled in 2006 and bottled at 52.1% natural strength. The Prenzlow Portfolio is one of Wiebers' themed series, named after the Brandenburg village in northeast Germany, with the line drawing from the bottler's broader inventory of selected single casks. The 2006 vintage falls in the early Beam Global ownership period at Kennethmont. 120 bottles for the European market.

Distilled in 2006 at the standard Ardmore peat level of 12 to 14 ppm phenol, the spirit was filled at 63.5% into a single ex Bourbon refill American oak cask and matured in dunnage at Kennethmont. The wash stills had converted from direct coal firing to steam heating in early 2001, giving the cleaner steam era profile that defines all post 2001 vintages. Twelve years brought the strength to 52.1%, with no chill filtration applied at bottling.

Refill Bourbon at this maturity gives a clean oak frame around distillery character. Cis whisky lactone reads as soft coconut and pine, vanillin from oak lignin shows as light custard, syringaldehyde adds a hint of clove. Apple and pear esters from the Kerry yeast component sit prominently, with the 12 to 14 ppm peat phenols reading as heather smoke, dry leaf and earthy phenolic at moderate integrated intensity. A soft creamy lactic edge closes the finish.
