A standard Malts of Scotland single cask release from the 1998 vintage cohort, bottled in 2015 at 17 years. The MoS Ardbeg programme has channelled multiple 1998 distillate casks across the years, including the parallel 16 year Amazing Casks release (cask #MoS 14027) and other warehouse selections. The 1998 vintage carries the modern Glenmorangie spec peating profile at 50 to 55 ppm phenol, established in the first full year of post acquisition production.

Filled into refill American oak cask #MoS 15032 in 1998 during Glenmorangie's first full year of Ardbeg production. Matured on Islay for seventeen years across the 2004 LVMH acquisition and into the modern era. Bottled in 2015 at 56.8% ABV, non chill filtered with no added colour.

Seventeen years of refill American oak maturation builds developed mid age expression. Cis and trans oak lactones (coconut, oiled wood) reach expressive concentration, hemicellulose breakdown furans deliver caramel and toasted almond, and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde layer vanilla and baking spice. The modern Glenmorangie spec peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) carry strong intensity at this age, delivering classic Ardbeg phenolic smoke. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature delivers concentrated tropical fruit beneath the integrated phenolic core.
