Ardbeg 15 Years Old 2009 Cask #26001 (Brave New Spirits)

Released through Brave New Spirits' Cask Masters programme, a curated single cask series from the modern Scottish independent bottler. Brave New Spirits emerged in the 2010s as part of the new generation of UK based bottlers building on the established Cadenhead, Signatory and Douglas Laing traditions but with a tighter, more curated release focus. The Cask Masters series presents documented single casks with full provenance.

Filled into refill bourbon hogshead in 2009 during LVMH owned Glenmorangie's modern stable era and matured on Islay for fifteen years before bottling in 2025 at 54.5% ABV, non chill filtered with no added colour. Cask #26001 sits within the post 2008 distillery warehouse numbering, indicating modern era production at the 50 to 55 ppm phenol specification.

Fifteen years of refill bourbon maturation builds the modern Ardbeg mid age expression. Cis and trans oak lactones (coconut, oiled wood) build at expressive concentration, hemicellulose breakdown furans (furfural, hydroxymethylfurfural) deliver caramel and toasted almond, and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde layer vanilla and baking spice. Modern era peat phenols (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) carry full intensity at this age for classic Ardbeg phenolic smoke. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature delivers concentrated pineapple, lemon and tropical fruit beneath the integrated phenolic core, the distillery's modern spirit still architecture in its current stable form.
