Ardbeg 10 Years Old 2013

A French market exclusive Ardbeg from the 2013 distillation cohort, released through the Distillery Single Cask programme. France is one of Ardbeg's most important international markets, with the LVMH parent group based in Paris and the country's specialist whisky retail tradition anchored by La Maison du Whisky and a network of independent Parisian wine and spirits houses that channel single cask releases to enthusiast collectors.

Matured on Islay for ten years from 2013 under LVMH owned Glenmorangie. Bottled in 2024 at 57.6% ABV, non chill filtered with no added colour. The 57.6% reading after ten years sits in the expected range for Ardbeg ex Bourbon maturation in the maritime warehouse cycle, with steady ethanol attrition through the humid storage climate at Port Ellen.

Ten years of American oak maturation places this release in the early mid age expression of the modern Ardbeg curve. Cis and trans oak lactones build coconut and oiled wood at developing concentration, while hemicellulose breakdown furans (furfural, hydroxymethylfurfural) add emerging caramel and toasted almond, and lignin vanillin and syringaldehyde deliver vanilla and baking spice. The modern 50 to 55 ppm peat phenol load reads at full intensity (guaiacol, syringol, 4 methylguaiacol, p cresol) for classic phenolic smoke. The Ardbeg purifier ester signature delivers concentrated pineapple, lemon and tropical fruit beneath the integrated phenolic core.
