Arawak Arrangé Papaye – Maracuja

Arawak makes rhum arrange in Guadeloupe by macerating fruit in rum, and this Papaye Maracuja sets papaya against passion fruit. Built on a cane-juice base distilled on a column still, it is a flavoured, sweetened spirit rather than a straight agricole, and reads as a ripe tropical infusion.

The two fruits carry the nose and palate, papaya and passion fruit ripe and clear, with the passion fruit lingering on the finish. As with Arawak's other arranges, the balance between fruit, sugar and spirit is nicely judged so it stays fruity without becoming syrupy. At 32% it is soft and openly sweet, made for chilled sipping or a tropical cocktail. This is a well-made, fruit-forward arrange, honest about its sweetness, a relaxed and aromatic pour for drinkers who enjoy ripe papaya and passion fruit over dry cane character.
