Antídoto is a Ribera del Duero red from Bodegas Antídoto in San Esteban de Gormaz, made from Tempranillo in a fresher, lighter style. Five months in oak keep the fruit forward, with red berries, plum and a savoury, peppery finish.

Description
Bodegas Antídoto takes its name from the idea of a counterweight to the heavily extracted, oak driven style that once defined parts of Ribera del Duero. The project is based in the Soria stretch of the appellation, around San Esteban de Gormaz, one of the highest and cooler corners of the region. Here Tempranillo, known locally as Tinto Fino, ripens slowly on sandy and limestone soils at altitude, where cold nights and a wide diurnal range hold acidity and aromatic freshness. The wine is farmed with a respectful, low intervention approach and given only around five months in oak, a short ageing that settles the tannins and adds a little spice while leaving the fruit in the lead. The colour is bright cherry red. The nose offers raspberry, plum and a hint of liquorice over a stony, earthy base. The palate is juicy and intense without weight, with fresh acidity, fine tannins and a savoury, peppery finish that reflects the cooler high ground. Serve at 16 degrees.
