Antica Sambuca Classic is an Italian aniseed liqueur bottled at 38%, produced at the Rossi d'Asiago distillery in the Veneto, a house founded in 1968 by the chemist Giovan Battista Rossi. The recipe was reworked and relaunched in 2001 and is built on a natural distillate enriched with aniseed and a careful selection of 15 spices and herbs, which gives it its character. Like all sambuca it leads with anise sweetened into a smooth, full bodied liqueur.

The nose is intense aniseed with a subtle herb and spice sweetness, the palate soft and full bodied with dominant anise, a harmonious herbal spiciness and balanced spice, finishing long with a gentle aniseed note and a fresh aftertaste. Behind the bar it brings sweet anise and a herbal backbone, the classic Italian after dinner serve, taken neat or over ice, flamed con la mosca with coffee beans, or dropped into espresso. It also pairs with dark chocolate, coffee and desserts such as tiramisu. Serve it neat or over ice to let the aniseed open fully.
