Description
Amuerte is distilled in Belgium around Peruvian coca leaves, once used in the Inca world to stave off hunger and fatigue, here turned to a strikingly original gin. Now in its fourth generation of production, the brand wears its theme openly: a reminder that death is never far, and that life is best enjoyed to the full. The Green Edition adds curuba, the banana passion fruit, whose gentle sweetness plays against the coca leaf's green, herbal character. The gold-leaf bottle, designed by artists Havi Cruz and Adrian Dominguez, signals the indulgence inside.
The nose is balanced and fruity. The palate is fresh and fruity with a pleasant bitter edge, coca leaf and curuba leading the conversation. The finish is long. Serve it over a large clear cube in a G&T with light tonic and a curl of grapefruit peel, letting the herbal bitterness breathe.
