Description
Ampov is a Cambodian distillery working from fresh-pressed sugar cane juice, which makes this agricole in spirit even though the protected term belongs to the French islands, so it reads as agricole-style. The Limited Edition Cuvée KAMPRA carries the 2024 vintage and is distilled on a pot still, an unusual choice for a cane juice rum and one that tends toward a heavier, more aromatic spirit.
Bottled at a sturdy 51%, with the proof worn as a feature. Cane juice distilled on a pot still should show a grassy, vegetal core with added weight and texture, drier and more characterful than a sweet molasses rum. A spirit for the curious, made well away from the traditional rum islands.
