Amaya Arzuaga Colección is a Ribera del Duero red from Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro, made from old-vine Tinto Fino across two estates. Twenty months in French oak gives a deep, structured wine of black fruit, spice and toasted oak.
Description
Amaya Arzuaga Colección is a red from D.O. Ribera del Duero, born from a collaboration at Bodegas Arzuaga Navarro between Florentino Arzuaga and his daughter, the fashion designer Amaya Arzuaga, who shapes the bottle design. It is single-variety Tinto Fino from old vines farmed across two estates, one on clay with sand and pebbles, the other on limestone. The contrast in soils matters: clay holds water and lends body and structure, while limestone drains freely and brings freshness and lift to the fruit. Ribera del Duero's high continental setting, with hot days and cold nights, slows ripening and keeps acidity firm beneath the ripe dark fruit. The wine ages twenty months in French oak barrel, a long period in which slow oxygen transfer through the wood rounds the tannins and layers in vanilla, toast and a fine cocoa note. It is deep, near opaque ruby, with ripe plum, black cherry, liquorice and toasted oak on the nose. The palate is full and structured, the dark fruit framed by firm, ripe tannins and a long finish. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees, decanted. It suits roast red meats, game and hard cheeses.
