Description
Altos de Losada works Godello in Bierzo, in the Castilla y León side of northwest Spain, on the slate and quartzite soils that give the region its identity. Bierzo sits between an Atlantic and a Mediterranean influence, so the vines get both cool freshness and enough warmth to ripen fully, which here brings the wine to a riper 14.4 percent while sustainable farming keeps the fruit balanced. Godello is a naturally full bodied white, and this one is aged for around eight months on its fine lees. That lees contact, with regular stirring, releases mannoproteins that build a creamy texture and a light nutty depth, rounding the wine without the need for heavy oak. The colour is pale yellow, bright and clear. The nose is intense, with white peach, pear and green apple over fresh flowers and a touch of honey. The palate is broad and textured, the orchard fruit and a gentle almond, waxy note carried by fresh acidity through a long savoury finish. Serve at around 11C in a white glass.

Additional information
