Description
Alta Vista is one of the oldest wineries in Mendoza, Argentina, run by the D'Aulan family, who once owned the Piper Heidsieck Champagne house and brought that experience to the New World. Torrontés is Argentina's signature aromatic white grape, prized for its intense floral perfume. It ripens fully in Mendoza's high altitude desert, where strong sunlight builds aroma and sugar while the cold nights of a wide diurnal range preserve acidity, so the wine stays fresh despite the ripeness. That balance is the key to the style. This bottling is aged in wood, which adds a light structural frame and a rounder texture through gentle oxygen exchange, without covering the varietal perfume. It is pale gold in the glass. The nose is lifted and floral, with white flowers, rose petal and orange peel over white peach and melon. The palate is dry and rounded, with citrus acidity keeping the aromatic fruit fresh through to the finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a standard white glass.
