Description
Allacher is an Austrian fruit-wine cellar, and this Pfirsich Frizzante is its peach-flavoured semi-sparkling style, made for light, uncomplicated drinking. Built on a fresh base wine with natural peach character, it is lightly carbonated to give a soft, easy bead rather than the firmer fizz of a traditional-method sparkling wine. At around 7 per cent it is low in alcohol, and the style is sweet and primary, made to be poured cold and enjoyed young rather than kept.
The colour is a light yellow with a soft, lively bead. The nose leads with ripe peach and apricot over a soft floral note. The palate is sweet and fresh, with clear stone fruit carried by a gentle effervescence, closing on a soft, fruity finish. Serve well chilled at 6 to 8 degrees in a flute or tumbler, or over ice on a warm day. It works as a light aperitif and suits fruit desserts, cakes and fresh fruit, and its sweetness makes it an easy sipper on its own.
