All About Old Tom comes from AB No.1 in Sweden, a thoughtful revival of the lightly sweetened Old Tom style that bridged the gap between Dutch genever and the dry gins to come. Inspired by Sweden's rugged-yet-gentle country, it sets clear juniper against citrus, herbs and a few floral notes, then rounds the whole thing with that signature soft sweetness. Bottled at 43%, it has the backbone for cocktails as well as sipping.
The nose carries juniper, citrus fruit and herbs. The palate is fresh and lightly spicy, juniper and citrus to the fore, with the gentle Old Tom sweetness keeping the edges soft, and the finish runs long. This style was made for a Tom Collins, so build one tall with soda and a lemon wheel, or let it sweeten a classic Martinez.
