Alcoholes y Rones supplies the Guatemalan rum for this Plantation VSOR Madeira Cask, a single cask finished and bottled by Maison Ferrand. Unlike much of the house's dosed core range, this is presented at cask strength, with the Madeira wood doing the heavy lifting over a relatively young base.

Molasses based and finished in Madeira at 49.4%, it opens with caramel, orange peel and raisin from the fortified wine cask, then turns brighter on the palate with lime peel, pineapple, vanilla and spice. The finish is peppery with allspice and vanilla. At its strength the spirit shows a little youth and the alcohol is not always fully knit, but the Madeira lends colour and a lively fruit lift. A vivid, wine-cask-driven Guatemalan sipper for those who like cask-forward intensity over polished smoothness.
