Dark chocolate, caramel, roasted coconut and deep oak power through this 14 Year Old Albion from El Dorado’s Rare Collection, a full proof, unsweetened and tropical aged single marque Demerara from a lost Guyanese estate at a serious 60.1%.
Description
Albion is one of Guyana's lost estates, its distillery long gone, the marque AN surviving only through recreation on the heritage stills now gathered at Diamond. This Rare Collection bottling is a single vintage from 2004, distilled on a Coffey still and matured entirely in the tropics, where heat and humidity concentrate the spirit and take a heavy toll through evaporation across fourteen years.
Unlike the softer, sweetened El Dorado core range, this is bottled unsweetened at a full 60.1%, letting the Demerara character speak without padding. Expect dark chocolate, caramel, roasted coconut and a deep seam of oak, rich and powerful but carried with composure rather than heat. This is serious Demerara for a drinker who wants concentration, age and a piece of a vanished sugar estate, best given time in the glass and a little water if the proof asks for it.
