Description
A single cask Foursquare from the 2001 vintage, bottled at 19 years by the Albert Michler Distillery. Foursquare is the Richard Seale operation in St Philip, the leading champion of additive free Barbados rum, and this expression shows the house's classic dry, pot and column blended character carried into older age.
Nineteen years in ex-bourbon oak lend it generous vanilla, cinnamon and coconut on the nose, with toasted barrel, nutmeg and nougat on the palate and a warm finish of bourbon oak, spice and a hint of bitter orange. There is no mistaking the distillery behind it, the wood is present but not overwhelming, and at 51% it stays comfortably drinkable. Unsweetened and matured on the dry side that Foursquare is known for.
