Aberlour 16 Year Old Double Matured

Aberlour 16 Year Old Double Charred Selection is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky released exclusively for global travel retail. Bottled at 43 percent ABV, this expression builds on the distillery’s classic double maturation style while introducing an additional layer of flavour through finishing in double charred American oak casks.

The whisky is matured in a combination of American oak and Oloroso sherry casks before a portion is finished in heavily charred American oak. This extra charring enhances caramelisation within the wood, bringing deeper sweetness and a more pronounced vanilla and toasted oak character while still retaining Aberlour’s soft fruit driven core.

On the nose, it shows crème brûlée, honeycomb and ripe fruit alongside gentle charred oak. The palate is smooth and rounded, with flavours of vanilla cream, white chocolate, cinnamon spiced fruit and orange zest. The finish is warming and sweet, with lingering spice and softly toasted oak.
