Description
Aberlour 12 Year Old Non Chill Filtered is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky first released around 2012 as a higher strength alternative to the distillery’s standard 12 year old. Bottled at 48 percent ABV and left non chill filtered, it retains more natural oils, giving the whisky added texture, weight and flavour intensity. Matured for a minimum of twelve years in a combination of ex bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts, this expression balances sweetness and richness. The bourbon casks bring vanilla, honey and light citrus, while the sherry casks contribute dried fruit, chocolate and gentle spice, resulting in a fuller and more layered profile. The nose opens with stewed fruit, toffee and soft spice, followed by malt, vanilla and oak. On the palate it is smooth and full bodied, showing dark fruit, milk chocolate, orange peel and warming spice. The finish is long and balanced, with lingering sweetness and subtle oak influence. As a non chill filtered whisky, it may become cloudy when chilled or when water is added. This is a natural characteristic and reflects the whisky’s fuller mouthfeel rather than a fault. Aberlour 12 Year Old Non Chill Filtered is ideal for those seeking a classic Speyside single malt with extra body, depth and a longer, more satisfying finish.
