Aberfeldy 20 Years Old 1996 Cask #2074 + 4 (LMDW)

Distilled at Aberfeldy in 1996 and matured 20 years in five sister ex Bourbon casks numbered 2074 plus the next four in sequence, vatted and bottled by La Maison du Whisky in 2016 at cask strength 55.7% under the London Road Series for the French specialist trade. 226 bottles in total. La Maison du Whisky was founded in 1956 in Paris by Georges Bénitah and is France's largest specialist whisky retailer and importer, with the London Road Series named for the firm's London office location.

Long fermentation Aberfeldy spirit from the four still post expansion configuration, distilled in 1996 in the United Distillers ownership era. Five sequential ex Bourbon casks (2074 onwards) aged 20 years before vatting and bottling at cask strength 55.7% with no chill filtering and no caramel adjustment under the London Road Series specification.

Vatting five sister casks at 20 years produces a more uniform expression than any single cask alone, smoothing the natural variation between adjacent casks while preserving the maturation depth across the vatting. Two decades in refill American oak develops vanillin from lignin breakdown to upper levels, cis whisky lactones contributing clearly framed coconut and dill, and furfural plus 5 hydroxymethylfurfural from hemicellulose providing developed caramel. Aberfeldy's house esters (ethyl laurate, ethyl myristate, heavier alcohols) drive the heather honey base, with the cask strength bottling and slow oxidation layering polymerised polyphenols and acetals onto the honey core.
