Bodegas Abeica is a small family Rioja estate run by fifth-generation oenologist Ricardo Fernández. This dry rosé blends Garnacha with white Viura across forty hectares of vines, giving fresh red berry, peach and a citrus edge.
Description
Bodegas Abeica is a family run estate in D.O.Ca. Rioja, farmed across forty hectares and led by Ricardo Fernández, a young oenologist representing the fifth generation. Garnacha provides the red fruit and structure of this rosé, while the white grape Viura adds citrus, orchard fruit and a floral lift to the blend. Rioja's continental climate, with warm days and cool nights, holds the natural acidity that keeps a young rosé fresh, and the estate works its vineyards sustainably. The grapes are picked to keep sugars moderate, pressed gently and fermented cool in stainless steel, which protects the primary fruit aromatics and gives a dry, unoaked wine drunk young. The colour is a bright pale pink. The nose shows fresh strawberry and raspberry, white peach and a touch of white flowers. The palate is dry and crisp, with lemon and pear carried by clean acidity to a clean savoury finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees as an aperitif or with lighter fare.
