Description
Volta comes from Adegas Moure, a long established family estate in Ribeira Sacra, one of the oldest denominations in Galicia in north west Spain. The region is defined by its dramatic terraces, cut into steep slate and granite slopes that fall to the Sil and Mino rivers, where the vines have to be worked almost entirely by hand. This is a field blend built around Albarino, Godello and Treixadura along with other local white varieties, the traditional Galician approach of planting several complementary grapes together. The Atlantic influence keeps the climate cool and damp, which preserves a high, fresh acidity, while the poor stony soils give the wine its mineral cut. Made without oak to keep the fruit clean and direct, it shows the bright side of Galician white wine. The colour is pale with green tints, and the nose offers lemon, green apple, white peach and white flowers. The palate is crisp and saline, with citrus and orchard fruit and a stony finish. Serve chilled at 9 to 11 degrees.
