Description
Loia Blanco is made by Adegas Moure, a family estate with deep roots in Ribeira Sacra, the historic Galician denomination that climbs the steep river valleys of the Sil and Mino. The grapes are picked by hand and, as the source notes, harvested at night to avoid the heat, so the clusters reach the winery cool and fresh. This is a blend of Godello and Albarino, two of Galicia's finest white varieties: Godello lends body and stone fruit, Albarino brings citrus and a saline lift. The wine spends a short five months in oak barrels, enough to round the texture and add a faint nutty note without covering the fruit, and the cool Atlantic climate combined with poor slate soils keeps the acidity bright and the finish mineral. The colour is pale straw, and the nose shows lemon, white peach, pear and a touch of almond. The palate is fresh and textured, with citrus, orchard fruit and a savoury, saline finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.

Additional information
Serve with grilled prawns, hake or roast chicken, where the light oak texture gives it a little more body than a young Galician white. The saline finish works well with clams and mussels. It also matches nutty hard cheeses.
