A’ Vía is a natural Treixadura from O Morto Wines, the Ribeiro project of Argentine grower Matías Michelini. Made from old native vines and aged nine months in clay amphorae, it is fresh and Atlantic, with green apple, citrus and a herbal, saline lift.
Description
A' Vía Treixadura comes from O Morto Wines, the Ribeiro project Matías Michelini founded after settling in Ribadavia, in Galicia. The wine is a single variety Treixadura, the region's leading white grape, drawn from four hectares of old native vineyards farmed organically and biodynamically. Ribeiro sits inland along the river valleys of southern Galicia, where an Atlantic influence brings rainfall and cool nights that preserve acidity and keep the fruit bright and taut. Vinification is deliberately low intervention: the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for nine months in clay amphorae, which allow a gentle oxygen exchange and light contact with the skins and lees while adding no oak flavour, giving texture and a faint grip rather than richness. The colour is pale straw. The nose leads with green apple, lemon and white peach over white flowers and dried thyme, and the palate is dry and linear with a stony, saline finish typical of the granite and slate soils. Serve at 9 to 11 degrees. It is a natural partner for shellfish, grilled white fish and fresh salads.
