Description
Ron Cristobal Santa Maria Marsala is a limited Dominican release from Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos, selected by 1423, drawn from a 2009 vintage and aged six and a half years before a finish in Marsala wine casks. Bottled at 44%, it pairs the soft Dominican base with a distinct fortified wine character.
The Marsala influence is front and centre, giving the rum a round, sweet profile with caramel, vanilla and clear fortified wine notes layered over oak and a fruity, spiced edge. The palate is warm and easy, the finish sweet with oak and gentle spice. It is honestly a sweet, dessert leaning rum, with the wine cask doing much of the flavouring, and it sits comfortably alongside other wine finished sippers. The accessible strength keeps it smooth and approachable, at its best poured neat or over ice as a relaxed evening glass.
