A Dominican ron from Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos under the Patridom label, bottled by 1423 World Class Spirits at 40%, soft and lightly sweet with vanilla, honey, caramel and a woody, dried-fruit finish.
Description
A.F.D. Patridom Gran Reserva is a Dominican Republic ron distilled by Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos and bottled by 1423 World Class Spirits. It sits squarely in the approachable Spanish style, an affordable everyday pour built for ease rather than intensity, where roundness and drinkability are the point.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak from a molasses base, it leans on light wood and a gentle sweetness. The nose carries spice, oak, vanilla and honey, the palate turns sweet with caramel, wood and barrel notes, and the finish stays sweet with dried fruit, vanilla and oak. There is a clear but moderate sweetening, with a touch of nutmeg spice rather than the heavy candied edge of a spiced rum. It is an honest, easygoing low-cost ron that drinks well neat or with cola, undemanding and pleasant rather than complex or showy.
