A.F.D. Bacoo 7 Year Old Rum

Bacoo 7 is distilled by Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos and presents a clear seven-year age statement, putting it among the more straightforward entries in the Dominican lineup. It is molasses spirit from a column still, matured in ex-bourbon casks whose vanilla and caramel imprint sits right at the centre of the profile.

Tropical ageing gives it warm amber colour and a soft, rounded feel, with vanilla, banana and mild tropical fruit on the nose and a sweet, lightly woody palate. The finish carries vanilla and caramel without much length or grip. It is smooth and easy, at its best over ice or with cola, and it does not pretend to be more than that: the flavour stays simple and the sweetness gentle, making it a friendly introduction rather than a rum for picking apart.
