4 Monos Viticultores make this Garnacha from high-altitude vineyards in the Sierra de Gredos, D.O. Vinos de Madrid. Farmed sustainably and aged 12 months in French oak, it is fragrant and fresh, with red berries, violet and a peppery, granite edge.
Description
La Danza del Viento La Isilla is a single-site Garnacha from 4 Monos Viticultores, a project built around the high-altitude vineyards of the Sierra de Gredos in the D.O. Vinos de Madrid. Altitude is the defining factor here: the cool mountain air and a wide swing between warm days and cold nights slow ripening, so the Garnacha keeps its perfume, fresh acidity and a fine boned structure rather than turning heavy. The decomposed granite soils of Gredos drain freely and lend the wine a mineral, savoury edge. Farming is respectful and sustainable. The wine is aged twelve months in French oak, enough to settle the tannins and add a light spice frame while leaving the fruit and floral lift intact. The colour is a bright medium red. The nose is fragrant, with redcurrant, raspberry and cherry alongside violet, black pepper and wild herbs. The palate is fresh and detailed, medium bodied, with fine tannins, lively acidity and a long savoury finish that returns to red fruit and stone. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, lightly chilled if you like. It suits roast poultry, game birds and pork.
