Divina Proporción makes 24 Mozas in D.O. Toro from old Tinta de Toro vines at least 30 years old. Low yields concentrate ripe cherry and strawberry, and six months in American oak round it out without smothering the fruit.

Description
24 Mozas is a Toro red from the Divina Proporción winery, made entirely from Tinta de Toro, the local strain of Tempranillo. The fruit comes from small plots across the winery's own 20 hectares and a further 20 hectares farmed by growers in the area, from vines at least 30 years old. Toro sits in the west of Castilla y León, a hot, dry, high continental zone where sandy and stony soils and old, naturally low yielding vines concentrate aroma and colour. The low production gives fruit with real intensity, and a moderate six months in American oak rounds the wine and adds a little spice and vanilla while keeping the ripe fruit to the fore. The colour is deep and youthful. The nose bursts with red fruit, cherry and strawberry, with plum, a peppery edge and a hint of liquorice. The palate is full bodied and generous, with the firm tannin Toro is known for, balanced by ripe fruit and a savoury, lightly oaked finish. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees, decanted if young. It stands up to grilled and roast red meat and hearty stews.
