2 Habla del Silencio in a case with 2 glasses Wine bottles and glasses 2022

This set pairs two bottles of Habla del Silencio, a red from Extremadura in western Spain, with two Riedel glasses, one of the better-known glassware makers. The wine comes from a vineyard on slate soil that is not overly fertile, farmed ecologically, and it is that poor, low-yielding site that gives the wine its concentration and character. Extremadura is warm and dry, so the grapes ripen fully and the wine carries generous, ripe fruit and a full body. Maturation in barrel adds the vanilla and sweet spice found on the nose and softens the tannins. The colour is a deep, saturated red. The nose leads with ripe cherry and raspberry, moving to darker plum, with vanilla, clove and a peppery lift from the oak. The palate is round and fruit forward, fresh and juicy for its weight, with supple tannins and a warm, spiced finish. It drinks well now and makes a ready present for a keen wine drinker. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees in a large glass. It suits grilled and roast red meats.
