Description
AsomBroso El Carbonzado is an extra anejo tequila built on the brand's Gran Reserva, a Blue Weber distillate already carried five years in oak before this release takes it further. As an extra anejo it sits in the most heavily matured of the NOM-006 classes, where barrel character leads and the agave settles into the background. The hand finished bottles are part of the AsomBroso identity, and an occasional weep at the cork comes from that handwork.
The base spends five years in new French oak, then moves to ex Irish whiskey casks for a final twelve months that round and deepen it. The result leans sweet and spiced, with vanilla, caramel, toffee and honey at the centre and a buttercream softness running underneath. Fresh herbs and gentle baking spice lift the nose, closed by a light, unobtrusive note of smoky wood from the long time in barrel. Bottled at 40%, it drinks mild and warm.
