Description
San Matias Extra Añejo Gran Reserva is a Blue Weber tequila matured 36 months in French oak, placing it in the oldest tequila class where the barrel becomes the lead voice and the agave moves to the background. Bottled at 40% in a deep black lacquered bottle, it is built as a slow sipping spirit for after a meal.
The long stay in French oak shows in an amber colour and a nose of dried tropical fruit, brown spice, suede and maple nut fondant. The palate is smooth and medium to full bodied, moving through creamy toffee, brown spice, pepper and leather, with a faintly mineral finish marked by white pepper. This is an oak driven Extra Añejo, dense and almost liqueur like in texture, with the cask weight expected of three years in wood.
