Villa Lobos Tequila Reposado

Villa Lobos is a Los Altos tequila built by Carlos Camarena at the Camarena family's La Alteña distillery in Arandas, Jalisco, the same highland house behind El Tesoro and Tapatio. It is a 100% Blue Weber agave reposado, made in the producer additive-free tradition that runs through the La Alteña stable, and aimed at fruit-forward drinkers rather than heavy oak.

The spirit rests eleven months in American oak, long enough to round the edges without burying the agave under sweetness. Highland soil and altitude push the floral, fruity register the nose shows: sweet agave, fresh mint, green apple and ripe peach, with rose and a little clove behind. The palate is creamy and oily, opening on honeyed agave, melon and grape before vanilla custard and gentle caramel arrive from the cask. It is bottled at 40%.
