Beerenkräfte Gin

Beerenkrafte is made in Styria by master distiller Wolfgang Thomann, who built it around the fruity intensity of hand-picked aronia berries. Those dark, tannic berries are the heart of the gin, joined by juniper, elderflower, lemon and orange zest, coriander and other herbs. After a gentle distillation the spirit rests in stainless steel tanks to settle and refine, then is bottled in batches of just 360, which keeps the whole thing genuinely artisanal.

The nose is an inviting spread of aronia, elderflower and citrus with juniper threaded beneath. The palate is complex and full-bodied, the berries' fruity depth meeting citrus-fresh lemon and orange zest and a herbal juniper lift, before a long finish that leaves fruit and spice gently behind. Build a G&T with fresh berries or a slice of orange to draw out that dark-fruit character, or pour it into a berry-led sour.
