Mandarin leads the way, ripe and sweet, with oranges, lime and grapefruit crowding in behind for a properly citrus-soaked gin. Distilled by the Henrich brothers in Hesse, it folds in thyme, lemongrass and a flick of cinnamon for spice. Bright, balanced and made for sunshine.

Description
At their distillery in Kriftel, Hesse, brothers Holger and Ralf Henrich turn out brandies, liqueurs, rum and single malt, but Mandarina Gin is one of their showpieces. The aim was to let the tangerine sing without the other flavours crowding it out: mandarin sits at the centre, supported by oranges, limes and grapefruit, with thyme, lemongrass, lemon balm and ginger lending quiet complexity, and blood orange and liquorice root rounding it off.
The nose is lively with mandarin and citrus, floral and lightly herbal. The palate is full-bodied and refreshing, sweet mandarin meeting spicy herbs and a hint of cinnamon, before a long, citrus-bright finish. Build a gin and tonic with a quality tonic and a slice of mandarin, or sip it over ice with a squeeze of lime alongside grilled fish.
