Thirteen Alpine herbs, rowan berries, gentian and masterwort give this East Tyrolean gin a wild, rooty depth beneath the juniper. Distilled by hand in small batches at the Kuenz estate, it finishes long, fresh and spicy. It tastes of high mountain meadows after rain.

Description
Roter Turm is named for a jagged peak in the Lienz Dolomites that towers over the Kuenz family's four-hundred-year-old estate in East Tyrol, and the gin wears that altitude proudly. Thirteen Alpine herbs and hand-picked spices are gathered around a juniper base, with the unusual additions of rowan berries, gentian and masterwort lending a rooty, distinctly mountain character. It is distilled by hand and bottled in small batches at 43%.
The nose carries juniper, Alpine herbs, a flicker of citrus and fine root tones. On the palate it is clearly drawn, the pine of juniper meeting floral nuances, citrus freshness and the bitter-earthy pull of gentian and masterwort; the finish is long, fresh and spicy with a herbal harmony. Build it into a gin and tonic with a quality tonic and a rosemary sprig to draw out its herbal complexity.
