Description
Mataroa comes from the Melissanidi Distillery in Greece, named for the Mediterranean it draws its character from. The botanical bill is generous and distinctly southern: juniper and angelica anchor a spread of lavender, coriander, orris, bay leaf, liquorice, three kinds of citrus peel, chamomile and the prized resin of mastic. Each one is distilled with care so its voice stays legible in the blend.
The nose is citrus-bright, orange and lemon and mandarin lifted by floral lavender and chamomile, with a light spice from bay and mastic. The palate balances that freshness against herbal warmth and a subtle liquorice sweetness, closing long and clean with a soft herbal note.
