Description

The name sounds Far Eastern, but Akori is made in Spain by Destilerias Campeny, who took inspiration from the Japanese palate when they built its flavour. Grain spirit is macerated with herbs, spices and fruit, then redistilled to lock the aromatics in place. The defining touches are unusual: ginger, kumquat and dragon fruit give the gin its exotic, fruity-spicy character while juniper holds the centre.

The nose carries kumquat and dragon fruit, fresh ginger and citrus-edged juniper. The palate is fruity and soft with a modern, exotic lean and a clear spice from the ginger, closing long, fresh and aromatic. It shines in an inventive gin and tonic finished with kumquat or dragon fruit, and lends a surprising fruitiness to a Dry Martini.
