Description
Steinhorn is the work of the Steiner brothers in Austria, who distil it by hand in small batches from a 60-litre copper pot still, following an old family recipe. It is a proper London Dry, with juniper firmly in the lead, joined by coriander seed, elderberry, liquorice, rosemary and lemon balm, a marriage of the classic and the local. Falstaff named it the best Austrian gin and second-best internationally in 2025.
The nose is intense and fresh, juniper spice cut with citrus, herbs and a hint of elderberry. The palate is dry, clear and layered, juniper and coriander threaded with liquorice, rosemary and a fine citrus edge, the finish long and aromatic. It shines in a G&T with a lemon twist or a sprig of rosemary, and holds its own in a Negroni or Tom Collins.
