Description
Okayama Single Malt is produced at the Miyashita Sake Brewery in Okayama prefecture, a centuries-old sake brewer that has turned its fermentation heritage toward single malt whisky. This release is a genuine single cask bottling, drawn from cask #1538, distilled in 2020 and bottled in 2024 at four years of age and 43%.
Maturation took place entirely in a bourbon barrel, the Ex-Bourbon wood lending the typical notes of vanilla, light toffee and orchard fruit that the house style carries cleanly at this age. Sake-house fermentation practices and Okayama's temperate inland climate shape a spirit that is gentle and approachable, with a soft grain sweetness underpinning the cask's contribution and a clean, lightly rounded finish.
