Oxenham Bougainville Hors d'Age is a molasses rum from Oxenham, a long-established Mauritian distiller, here under its Bougainville label. Mauritius sits outside any agricole AOC, so hors d'age describes the long ageing rather than a French-island tier.

Given eight years and matured in sherry oak casks, it is bottled at 43%. Sherry-matured molasses rum typically gains dried fruit, nutty oak and warm spice on top of a caramel-leaning cane base, the sherry influence pushing it richer and a touch drier than a plain bourbon-aged island rum. Expect a rounded, after-dinner character shaped as much by the cask as by the distillate.
