The Whisky Jury The Ester Hunter (catch 2) 2024 is an unsweetened blend of pot still rum from Hampden in Jamaica and Savanna on Reunion, two distilleries famous for chasing ester intensity. Hampden is the reference point for Jamaican funk, while Savanna's Grand Arome tradition pushes high-ester molasses rum in its own direction, so the pairing is a funk lover's experiment.

Matured in ex-bourbon oak and bottled at 52%, it leads with big esters, strawberry, overripe tropical fruit and floral notes, turning smoky and salty with an almost whisky like edge and a metallic, bitter finish. The result is wild and sometimes uneven, more of an intriguing side-step than a polished, classic Hampden bottle. It is polarising by design, rewarding drinkers who already love funky pot still rum and want something raw and experimental rather than smooth and accessible.
